Vascepa is used together with other medicines (such as statins) to reduce the risk of heart attack, stroke, and some types of heart problems that need hospitalization in adults. Vascepa is used together with a low-fat and low-cholesterol diet to reduce triglycerides (fats) in adults with severely high triglycerides.
VASCEPA helps protect you from a life-threatening event like a heart attack or stroke. Medications like fenofibrate and niacin may lower your triglycerides but using them in addition to a statin did not reduce risk. High triglycerides (over 150 mg/dL) can increase your odds of having a heart attack or stroke.
How To Use
The daily dose of VASCEPA is 4 grams per day taken as either: four 0.5 gram capsules twice daily with food
